Inktober 2019 Gallery

Inktober is now over as October draws to a close. As such all my Inktober art has been uploaded on Instagram throughout the month but I thought it was time to release it all in one place with more information about the characters and story (or as much as I can give away without spoilers!).
So prepare yourself for a gallery full of hints and a mini-preview of my upcoming story!

Extra Inktober Info!

As a sort of thank you for visiting my site you get a little extra info on these pictures than I posted online so here goes!
[Note: In the gallery below you can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel or your touch pad. You can also make it full screen with the button marked as 4 outward arrows; that way  you don’t have to zoom in and out.]

Inktober Day 1: Ring

Not sure if this will be the final design but this ring features in the story though only a little later on. I had fun trying to draw it and will probably continue to play with the design until I feel it fits the theme it represents best.

Inktober Day 2: Mindless

Mindlessly pursuing his enemy, constantly hunting him, let me give you a small preview of the villain of this story… Doesn’t he look friendly?

Inktober Day 3: Bait

It’s not safe to go into the Marshes at the best of times, it’s especially not safe to go alone and in a bad mood, you just have no idea what might be waiting for you…

Inktober Day 4: Freeze

So this is Tabatha doing her job. You’ll meet her soon. She’s tough and determined, focused on her job; but is there more that’s driving her than professionalism?

Inktober Day 5: Build

You can build physical things with your hands and you can build many long lasting, but unseen things, with your words. “Compassion enough to build a legacy” was my way of interpreting the Build prompt and make it fit with one of my characters. I chose that sentence because compassion, kindness and wisdom are his key features and they have a big impact on the story and on a few of the characters in particular. Will you be able to guess who it is when the story comes out?

Inktober Day 6 : Husky Hidden (2016)

There aren’t really any dogs or people with a husky voice (not sure how I’d draw that anyway) in this story so I picked a prompt from a past year for this one. Hidden could fit with multiple points in the story when our main characters have to hide from enemies! This is in a cave, we can see that but why are they peeping out, who are they trying to spy on or hide from?

Inktober Day 7: Enchanted

I don’t think this drawing really managed to convey what I was trying to do but ho hum… It’s an enchanted door. A summoned door. But who summons it? And where does it lead? (There’s a small clue if you peer through the door and compare it to later drawings 😉 )

Inktober Day 8: Frail

A little baby girl (yes, despite the fact that I clearly can’t draw babies that’s what it’s supposed to be!) is quite a frail thing when faced with cold winters in a harsh new world…

Inktober Day 9: Swing

While this is an overall lighthearted story no one goes and plays on a swing-set so the only ‘swing’ relevant was this… A rope blowing in the wind tied to a tree… But why?

Inktober Day 10: Jump

Because sometimes you’ve got to choose between “the Devil and the deep blue sea” (mostly metaphorically speaking) and the deep blue sea seems worth a shot! Jump Tabatha and good luck! Why is she so desperate as to risk this jump? You’ll have to wait to find out! 😉

Inktober Day 11: Snow

Like I said in my Instagram post this represents a calm moment in this character’s life (come to think of it it’s a rare moment of calm in both their lives!). Have you recognised the pale haired character? He’s appeared before in this Inktober list. So what’s his role in the story? Why is he in some caves in the mountain and who is the youngster with him?

Inktober Day 12: Dragon

A Serpent in my world, I’ll write a post about them soon, but they’re the closest thing I have to Dragons so I thought it fit. This is just the face of one, based on a very old drawing of mine but you’ll get to see more later…

Inktober Day 13: Ash

Ash is all that remains of this building, this house, this home… But why? Not telling! 😉 😛

Inktober Day 14: Overgrown

As I said on Instagram this is an overgrown, long forgotten carving left in a ruined courtyard. But who would carve this and leave it there? Who are the figures? You’ve probably started to recognised on of them by now. I suppose this is probably not going to be in the story so much as in the after effects of the story, but it’s related to it so it counts… right?

Inktober Day 15: Legend

Basically the opener to this story is a short legend to set the scene, this is part of it. I’ve obscured just enough to be frustrating! haha! But you’ll hear it soon enough! And when you get to hear this then you’ll know that this story is coming out! Weekly hopefully! So stay tuned!

Inktober Day 16: Wild

As I said on my Instagram this is one of my main characters but who and what he is I will only reveal in the story. I will say though that he’s one of my favourite characters both because of his personality and because of his abilities/design.

Inktober Day 17: Ornament

I put on Instagram “Ornament: Because, unfortunately, this princess might as well be an ornament as no one listens to her wishes. No one? Almost no one? What will happen? Stick around for my story to find out.”; but here I was to say a little more about her: She’s treated as an ornament, almost a possession, by her family who have her life all planned out for her, that doesn’t mean she’s willing to do as she’s told. So from this you’ll know there’s a feisty princess in this story somewhere 😉

Inktober Day 18: Misfit

Have you ever felt like you don’t fit in in your village (/town/city)? This young man certainly does. So when adventure comes a-calling he’s only too happy to join the gang and the adventure!

Inktober Day 19: Sling

Self taught with the sling and a very good shot he is too! However I think the cat would rather just play with the string than worry about fighting anyone.

Inktober Day 20: Tread

A series of footprints in the sand isn’t that unusual right? But one of them is slowly changing… Why? Maybe someone is not quite what they appear at first glance…

Inktober Day 21: Treasure

I tried to draw a crystal… but it’s hard to do in ink. Oh well… This is far from it’s final design but it was worth a shot…

Inktober Day 22: Ghost

So who’s going to die for there to be a ghost in this story? 😛 Hahaha am I being mean with my hints?

Inktober Day 23: Ancient

Who rests within this ancient tomb? Also who noticed it in an earlier Inktober piece? If you didn’t spot it it’s through the doorway in Enchanted. So there are a few more clues for you 😉

Inktober Day 24: Dizzy Broken (2016 day 9)

So I couldn’t think of anything to do with this story that would really represent Dizzy so I swapped it out for Broken and drew that. It’s supposed to be one of my characters looking out of a window and it’s more metaphorical than a literal scene but I’m not even sure if I managed to make it look like a window and not a mirror, let alone make it look cracked. Hopefully some of this came across though!
Like I said in my Instagram post this character is one I love despite him being infuriatingly smug! So what could possibly be causing those cracks?

Inktober Day 25: Tasty

My main character will eat just about anything! There’s a scene where we see him eat some interesting looking food and so I ran with that and just over did the table full of food for fun!
Also for my first time ever drawing food and drawing it in ink at that I’m really happy with how this turned out!

Inktober Day 26: Dark

Timmy is stuck in the well you say? Haha well sort of 😛 But it’s dark down there and he’s going to need a helping hand to get out… even if it’s an odd hand that helps him.

Inktober Day 27: Coat

Yeah…. I’ll be honest not too keen on this drawing. Coat inspired nothing really fancy. There’s a scene where the main character is wearing nothing but a coat (you’ll have to stick around to find out how that comes about) so I quickly drew that. Not my best…

Inktober Day 28: Ride Fall (2017)

I could have done ride, but it would give away some spoilers so I opted for Fall as it’s less spoiler heavy.
So here’s another Serpent but he’s falling towards a forest below as a searchlight scans the sky…

Inktober Day 29: Injured

I’m really pleased with this one! I think the movement worked out really well and it’s a dramatic scene anyway so it was a lot of fun to draw.

Inktober Day 30: Catch

Because plans don’t always work out. Here’s my main character, caught, tied up and looking rather annoyed at it. In the book he’s feeling a lot more despondent but honestly drawing him huffing was much more fun!
Also who’s that sat up on the rock? Can you guess? You’ll have seen him in an earlier Inktober drawing.

Inktober Day 31: Ripe Friend (2016)

I suppose they’re a ‘ripe old age’ technically? But I swapped it out for Friend because it fit better (had a less tenuous link) and honestly I didn’t think about the Ripe pun until after I’d drawn this. so here’s a lovely old couple who are friends of the main character.
I simple drawing to end Inktober but I was exhausted by then!
