Week 13:
I didn't write loads and I soon found out why... I was ill... Sigh 🙁
Instead of dwelling on how ill I felt and how little I got done here's a picture of Bandit (our youngest) looking... Well I'm not quite sure what that expression is... Suave? Disgruntled? Haughty? What do you think?

He's a lovely cat! A really "baby boy!" He always wants to be near us. I've written a bit of an introduction to him and Ember (the eldest) over on my blog (lifelongscribe.com) but if you've got any questions or want to know more let me know! 😸

Week 9:
This week was all over the place! But I still managed to get things done!

I'm trying to learn to celebrate the small wins! Are you any good at that? What's your advice?
I struggle to be positive when the world can seem so negative... I'm trying to learn to be more positive.
Although I'm not saying you can never be sad, cross etc. I don't think you have to be walking around with a fake happy smile plastered across your face all the time!... But I don't want my brain to see only the bad stuff!
One thing I started doing a couple of years ago was to write down 1 bullet-point of something positive that had happened per day. That was a good place to start...

So now I can say that, thought that week what chaos (including illness etc.) I'm glad I still managed to get 11,568 words done! That's not nothing! 😀

Week 8:
I took the week off writing to do some reading and work on some side projects I'm hoping to share with you one day.

My projects include my writing as Lifelong Scribe, the stories I'm creating as part of my Scribe & Dagger work. But I'd also like to share stuff about writing (world-building and the like) but it'll all have to be from my angle as a neurodivergent writer.

Week 7: This was a good week! I finished the first

Week 7:
This was a good week! I finished the first draft of one of the stories I'm writing for Scribe & Dagger! Yay! (So I was ordered by Dagger to take a mini celebratory half week off!)

The main character in this story is called Conrad and he's one of my favourite characters we've worked on together! I can't wait to share it with you 🙂 <3

Week 6: I took the week off!
It's important to take time off work when you can (I'm terrible at this! But I need to learn in order to look after my mental health!) so as it was our anniversary week and it snowed this seemed like a good excuse!

I'm currently in a mini heatwave as I write this and I'm kinda missing the snow and it's chilly bright blue skies (which are nice when you get them... rare as that can be in Scotland!).

Week 5: My 3,000 words per working day is now my standard goal. I had a fairly good week and, even though I actually felt quite ill during most of it, I got a lot of writing done despite this! Yay!

It's been a weird couple of years. I hope everyone has been able to look after themselves (both physically and mentally). I've enjoyed writing and creating stories with Dagger. What have you done to keep yourselves sane during the pandemic?

Week 4: Building off last week's test I knew I co

Week 4:
Building off last week's test I knew I could easily write 6,000 + words on a good day but that probably wasn't a good idea as a target.
Firstly it leads to burnout, tiredness and even pain in my eyes from staring at the screen for long periods of time.
Secondly I have bad days sometimes e.g. where I just feel tired or not motivated and having a high minimum target like that wouldn't be good for those days.

So! I decided on a goal of 3,000 words per working day!
This feels like a much more manageable target. On bad days I can probably push myself to get there and on a good day I can probably overshoot it (but also I can give myself permission to stop when I hit 3,000 for my own mental and physical well-being).

I spent this week aiming for my 3,000 goal and it felt good! I'm sticking to this for now!

Weekly Word Count! I though I could share my week

Weekly Word Count!
I though I could share my weekly word counts throughout the year to motivate myself and to share progress with you.

I'll be sharing not only how I've done but how I've felt as a sort of mini journal to keep track of things (both to figure out patterns in my writing and try to prevent burnout).

What do you think? Would you like me to also tell you bits about the story or should I save that for character art?

So here goes: 2021!

Weeks 1 & 2: I used this time to figure out what I wanted to do this year, plan and get into the rhythm of things more generally.

Week 3: I wrote as much as I felt like when I felt like it, but I also kept track of how much I'd written every day and how I was feeling. I often write loads and then burn myself out so I wanted to try and find a comfortable middle ground/goal I could aim for writing-wise. I wrote a lot that week but I was tired by Thursday so not great... 😕
I needed to find an acceptable words per day goal...

So I've been absent for a little while (this year has been strange) but I'm back now! And I thought I'd start by sharing some of my old drawings. These upcoming drawings were done for short stories or for my books (not the upcoming podcast), so they're old and might not be canon anymore but they're fun to look at! I'll say straight away that I'm dead happy with the horns on this one, I really like how they turned out. This was for a short, non canonical story that I'm still tempted to write one day. What do you think? Want to see what happens to this adventurer and this demon?

So based off yesterday's post I decided to do a more 'colour' version of Shenttan. He probably wouldn't wear the green top (though the ribbons would be green) but I really needed some contrast. So here he is, pale skin and hair, horns and sapphire eyes and of course wearing all his jewellery! 😉 Handsome boy! haha ❤️🐍

Obviously the horns would have some colour (probably deep grey-black) but I didn't get round to doing those. At least you can see he likes his jewlery! 😂🐍❤️💍

I'm so happy with this drawing, even though I drew

I'm so happy with this drawing, even though I drew it years ago! This is one of the main characters in my CB book(s) even though he's more of a presence than a character the things he does sets off the whole chain of events which leads to the story itself.
This is Shenttan and he's a Serpent (yes, the same as yesterday's post!). His kind can change shape. If you want to see what he looks like as a Serpent stay tuned to see the designs (and how they've changed!)
