Hey, I just tallied up my word count from 2021 and Hey, I just tallied up my word count from 2021 and here it is: 234,258 words! I'm very happy with that! 😀 That's as if I'd written about 641 words per day which feels decent. I will say there was a lot of blank time when I wasn't writing (post my second covid jab for example, or a very blue, unproductive period during summer after some 'therapy' that was rubbish). I'm a bit dissapointed in that as I'd have liked to be more consistent :/ However for the first time tracking what I can do I feel that's a respectable number and I need to remember that life will happen, things will get in the way and I'm not a machine 😛 Not sure if I should track my word count this year. He's a grumpy bloke, at least to start off with but when you consider he has to work with wizards who aren’t taking their ‘mundane’ jobs seriously, what do you expect! 😂 Haha so no, he doesn't start off with the best view of wizards, bit of a bummer for Morgan and Marcus, but will that change? You'll have to wait and see! As for Samuel he’s the leader of the Halfling scout group that Merydwen belongs to. He’s much more laid back and friendly but he’s a very good fighter! Both are minor characters in our story but they’re a lot of fun. According to the label he's labelled as "Cosy Dinosaur" which I love ❤️ He's made in Nepal so he's come a long way 🙂 So if you're wondering why as I writer I'm putting up pics of dinosaurs sometimes, well, there's two parts to that answer: 1) Dinosaurs are great! (end of argument haha) 2) Dinosaurs were one of my earliest, if not my first, special interest so I'm enjoying revisiting it. So lately I've been rediscovering my special inter So lately I've been rediscovering my special interest from when I was a child: Dinosaurs! I was obsessed with them as a kid but was put off by lack of available, clearly understandable books, lots of names I struggled to memories (hi ADHD, thanks for the memory issues 😆) and an unsupportive environment. Now I'm diving back in because Dinosaurs are cool! And wow so much has changed since I was a kid! Feathered velociraptors! What? But OK, kinda haha 🙂 I'm enjoying this rediscovery of an old interest and all the new findings that have been made. So here's a quick drawing I did based on a photo I took of a dinosaur at out local museum (didn't have a label at the time I don't think because of renovation but I'll check when I go back). It's funny because last week I drew an Allosaurus skull, then I drew this and then I discovered Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong and am currently binge watching that and info-dumping on my partner (who is mercifully supportive and patient!). It's great! So like I said in my last post I totally lost track of time and somewhat lost track of my wordcounts too, partially because writing in August almost always feels impossible to me and then stuff happened at home which resulted in everyone taking a break from work. A lot has actualy happened since my last update including: sorting out my computer, deleating a lot of old artwork, having my second COVID jab, worldbuilding, therapy, and some serious conversations about future plans. Wow it's been a long time since I posted anything Wow it's been a long time since I posted anything here! Ooops! Anyway... I made this drawing for fun and to use as my phone background and thought it would be fun to share! I love crows! It's a bit of a random drawing but I was missing my black and white/ink drawings and thought this would be fun. Hope you like it. For those wondering where I've been and why well... I ended up losing count of the weeks for a few reasons. To begin with it was because August was a bit of a creative dead zone for me (it normally is) but by the time September/October came around I was starting to feel way more inspired... and then home stuff happened... So now it's November! haha! Oh well, I'm back and everyone at home is feeling better, important decisions were made and batteries were recharged! Week 27: What a strange week that was! I suppose y Week 27: What a strange week that was! I suppose you could call it something of a mental health week. The most significant of which was my diagnosis (Asperger's/Autism). The result wasn't surprising to any of us really but it has put things in perspective. I'd got an ADHD diagnosis several years ago and while it explained some things it didn't explain it all. Now we know a bit more what's going on... I think it would be hard to put all I'm thinking and feeling about this into a post here, maybe I'll write about it on my blog later if you're interested? However I'd say my main two feelings are: 1) Good, at least I now know a bit more about why I see the world differently. 2) Now what? I'm in the UK and one of the first things my doctor said is that they don't really have any support for adults with autism post-diagnosis (wonderful!) and everything I've seen seems to be targeted at children or young adults. Does anyone know if there are any groups or services for adults? Side note: I've always been hesitant to post 'behind the scenes' stuff about myself or my life but I've realised my 'oddness' is too much a part of me, how I see the world and even how I write not to share. I'm going to be a little different no matter what so people might as well know why. 🙂 Anyway because of all of that I was far too distracted to write, I'm looking forward to trying to get on track for next week! I can't tell if I feel burnt out, uninspired or just tired because the days are long but we're stuck inside because of lockdown... Either way I just decided to take a break and do a bit of reading instead. And by a bit of reading I mean devouring several books! 😂 What have you been doing to keep sane lately? Still that's not the worst side effect and I'm still super happy with the amount I managed to write. Setting some time aside to go over things and make sure they're all working out and making sense then helps with the writing process later on. Should I maybe explain how I write stories? I have two slightly different approaches depending on if its a Lifelong Scribe project or a Scribe & Dagger project but both have similarities and it might be fun to share if you're interested in hearing about it? Week 22 I did lots or writing which I was very happy about and quite surprised at to be honest as it was the week of my first Covid vaccine and I was worried I was going to feel sick. I did start to feel tired towards the end of the week but I wrote 5,000 + words the very day after the jab so that was good. Week 19: I decided to split this week between writ Week 19: I decided to split this week between writing and practising drawing. I used to love drawing but I was heavily discouraged from it by some family members when I was a child so I used to hide it, as I got older and school/uni took up more time it became easier to focus just on my writing but I really miss drawing and I want to get better at it so I can share illustrations of the characters, races, places and much more from my stories! Do you have a hobby or passion you used to do or wish you could do more? What is it and what's stopped you from doing it more?
